In celebration of its 17th anniversary, PPCBank has reaffirmed its dedication to the Cambodian community by donating 50 bicycles along with study materials to underprivileged students in Tbong Khmum province. The donations, held at a special August 28 ceremony at Prek Chik Primary School, marked a significant milestone in the bank’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation and supporting inclusive development across the country.
PPCBank’s 17th Anniversary: Empowering Communities and Supporting Education to Drive Cambodia’s Development
The donations were part of a special 2025 initiative led by Mr. Yim Yong Taick, Chairman of PPCBank, who has long championed corporate social responsibility as a core value of the bank’s identity.
Under his leadership, PPCBank has launched impactful initiatives in the fields of education, healthcare and community development. The bicycle donation reflects Mr. Yim’s vision of giving back to the communities that have supported the bank’s growth over the years, and of ensuring that meaningful change reaches those who need it most.
The Prek Chik Primary School ceremony was attended by school principals, teachers, students and PPCBank’s senior management and staff. Their presence demonstrated a shared commitment to removing barriers that prevent children from accessing quality education.
In many rural areas of Cambodia, students face significant transportation challenges that affect their ability to attend school regularly. Long walking distances and limited family resources can result in frequent absences or early dropouts. Recognising this, PPCBank chose bicycles as a sustainable and practical solution, empowering students to commute safely and efficiently to school.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Lee Jinkyu, Executive Vice President of PPCBank, emphasised the importance of supporting education through tangible action.
“Our 17th anniversary is not only a celebration of our journey as a financial institution but also a reflection of the relationships and responsibilities we hold within the community. Education is the foundation for a brighter future, and no child should be denied access to learning because of distance or circumstance. Through this initiative, we hope to ease that burden for students and their families, and to inspire them to continue reaching for their dreams.”
“At PPCBank, we strongly believe that our role goes beyond providing financial services—we are here to be a trusted partner in the development of Cambodia. We see every child as a future leader, innovator or changemaker, and it’s our duty as a responsible corporate citizen to ensure they have the tools and support needed to thrive. By investing in education and accessibility, we’re investing in the long-term strength of this nation. This initiative is just one example of our ongoing promise to stand with the people of Cambodia as they build better lives for themselves and future generations,” – Mr. Lee Jinkyu explained.
The bicycle donation is one of several of PPCBank’s significant humanitarian efforts this year, aligning with its broader mission to help underprivileged children overcome challenges in pursuit of their education. It also reinforces the bank’s belief that the private sector plays a vital role in building a stronger, more equitable society.
Beyond its well-known and highly regarded business operations, PPCBank has built a strong reputation for community engagement and sustainable development.
Over the years, the bank has led and supported numerous CSR programs, including the construction of school buildings in rural areas, environmental initiatives such as tree planting and city cleaning, emergency assistance for families affected by floods, and free medical checkups and medicine distribution to underserved populations. Each of these initiatives has been guided by the same core values that inspired the bicycle donation: compassion, responsibility and a belief in the transformative power of giving back.
As of 2025, PPCBank stands proudly among Cambodia’s top 20 banks in total assets and ranks 16th in total loans. Its growing presence in the Cambodian financial sector is matched by a steadfast commitment to inclusive growth and social progress. As the bank looks to the future, it remains dedicated to creating meaningful change alongside the communities it serves, empowering individuals, uplifting families and shaping a brighter, more hopeful tomorrow for all Cambodians.
